The scientific activities of SSEH include:

  • Regular scientific meetings which take place in the “DOMA” (11th floor) of Evangelismos hospital, between October and June of each year, every Wednesday from 13.00 to 15.00. Each medical department presents a case of great diagnostic or therapeutic interest, commented by a physician of different medical department. A general discussion with the participation of the audience follows and is concluded with  a review of the related literature by the department presenting.
  •   Regular scientific meetings which take place in the “DOMA”, between October and June of each year, on the second Tuesday of each month from 13.00 to 15.00. They comprise round table discussions either of special topics of high interest or of recent advances in medicine. The topics and chairmen of these round table discussions are selected by the Board of SSEH.
  • Since 1996, the SSEH organises Annual Seminars of CME. These take place every February or beginning of   March, are multidisciplinary and consist of: scientific symposia, highlights of current issues, debates and lectures. They are mainly addressed to physicians of Attica and district regions who are practicing away from hospital environment. Their main purpose is to update practicing doctors on recent medical advances.
  • The Scientific society of Evangelismos Hospital in honour of one of its most eminent members, Professor C.D. Gardikas, has established a lecture, named "C. GARDIKAS Lecture" held each year during the annual congress of the Athens Medical Society. The first such lecture was given in May 2000 by Sir David Weatherall on "The development and future of molecular biology".  During his introduction Dr C.G. Alexopoulos described the profile of Dr C. D. Gardikas as Professor, Researcher, Clinician, Writer, Clinical Teacher 12 and Philosopher.

          Following his introduction, Dr Alexopoulos read on behalf of Prof Gardikas a  handwritten address of his.
